ON THE EXHIBITION
Phantasie und Spott
Franz Graf von Pocci (1807–1876) was not only master of ceremonies, court music director and inventor of “Kasperl Larifari”, but also an almost obsessed draughtsman. His passion was to constantly let his picture-fantasy play. This fantasy circled around invented landscapes or helped him to illustrate his texts and songs. The fairytale-like stands thereby beside the study of nature, so that Pocci was a typical representative of the art of its time. In addition, he was able to impale his colleagues in administration and artistship with incorruptible malice in caricatures. His follower herein and as the chronicler of the society “Old England” was Ludwig Graf von Otting (1818–1894), who can be discovered newly.
