Nachtmusik in der Pinakothek der Moderne
In the unique atmosphere that prevails when the Pinakothek der Moderne closes in the evening, the Munich Chamber Orchestra fills the heart of the museum – the rotunda – with its “Modern Night Music”. Since its inception in 2003, this unique concert series has established itself as a central series of the Munich Chamber Orchestra and functions as a widely acclaimed concept for bringing contemporary music to a wider audience.
Now in its 20th year, the “Nachtmusik der Moderne” concert series presents the music of an outstanding composer of the 20th and 21st centuries on three Saturday evenings during the season, complementing the museum's artworks. These concerts pay homage to the artistic diversity of modern and contemporary music. Each concert evening offers the audience the opportunity to immerse themselves in the sound world of individual personalities.
ARTIST TALK
A highlight of the events is the artist talk, which takes place at 9 p.m. in the Ernst von Siemens Auditorium. Here, visitors have the opportunity to meet the artists themselves or experts on their music and learn more about the inspiration, musical language and creative process behind the works.
NIGHT TOURS BEFORE THE CONCERTS AT 8 PM
Before the concerts, visitors have the opportunity to discover the works of contemporary artists, designers and architects in the Pinakothek der Moderne on a night tour. The number of participants for this tour is limited and requires a concert ticket purchased in advance as well as registration at least two days before the concert at programm@pinakothek.de.

DOK.fest München
Since 2005, DOK.fest has been a guest of the Pinakothek der Moderne and presents films that relate to the collections held by the Pinakothek galleries in the Kunstareal Munich. Over the past few years, DOK.fest München has grown to become one of the largest documentary film festivals in Europe. It shows films by prestigious filmmakers, promotes so-called "low production countries" and works on establishing the broadest possible impact for this particular genre of artistic documentary film.
Every year in May the festival presents the newest and most interesting documentary films.
