Can You Imagine? | Part I Art from 1960 Onwards | Rooms 29-35

About the exhibition

The visionary power of art is at the heart of the new collection presentation, which is gradually being unveiled in 27 rooms on the upper floor of the Pinakothek der Moderne as a follow-up to "Mix & Match". Visitors are invited to discover connections and links through the boundless power of imagination and creativity in 20th- and 21st-century art, to see the familiar in a new light, and to foster encounters and exchange.

The exhibition features a room dedicated to Blinky Palermo, highlights by Gerhard Richter, Rosemarie Trockel, and Andy Warhol, and recent acquisitions including works by Simon Fujiwara, Andy Hope, and Ambera Wellmann. Rooms dedicated to “Spaces for Play” and “Role Models” introduce new thematic focuses and offer a first glimpse into the spaces in the east wing, which are dedicated to art from 1960 onwards.

The openings of "Can You Imagine? | Part II" (art from 1945 onwards, rooms 11–17) and "PART III" (art from 1900 onwards, rooms 1–10), as well as the entire contemporary art exhibition, will take place on October 8 and December 10, 2026.
